Community Unites for Fuller Center’s “Living Our Legacy” Earth Day Celebration

An afternoon of environmental action, youth leadership, and community kindness takes root in Boca Raton
More than 100 students, city leaders, and community members gathered at Meadows Park’s Susan Whelchel Community Garden on April 22 to celebrate Earth Day with Fuller Center’s annual Living Our Legacy event — an immersive afternoon focused on sustainability, youth empowerment, and collective kindness.

The event was officially opened by Deputy Mayor Fran Nachlas, who delivered the City of Boca Raton’s Earth Day Proclamation. Fuller Center Teen Leaders Kyle and Jordyn Kelman shared heartfelt reflections on the deeper meaning of Earth Day, followed by welcoming remarks from Victoria Matthews, President Elect of the Junior League of Boca Raton.

“This was more than just an event—it was a living expression of how we come together as a community to nurture both the Earth and each other,” said Eric Roby, CEO of Fuller Center.

The garden transformed into a dynamic learning space with eight interactive activity stations, including:

  • Kindness Matters 365 – Kindness rock painting
  • Community Servant Leaders – Seed planting with teen volunteers
  • National Women’s Pickleball Foundation – Pickleball basics
  • Rotary Club of Boca Raton – Talent show coaching and snacks
  • Junior League Monarch Watch – Butterfly tagging
  • Author Rayna Rose – Book reading and signing
  • 2day4tomorrow – Food forest tours
  • Premiere Spine Center – Community health resources

The Fuller Center extends heartfelt thanks to the dedicated volunteers, students, families, and partners who made the day a blooming success.
