FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Boca Raton, FL. March 12th, 2024 – Fuller Center celebrated its 53rd anniversary with a vibrant birthday bash at PopStroke Tiger Woods’ premier entertainment destination in Delray Beach. The event not only marked over five decades of dedicated service to the community, but also aimed to raise funds for a transformative new project – a state-of-the-art $200K playground for its K-4th grade private choice elementary school, Fuller Academy.

Established in 1971, Fuller Center has been a cornerstone of educational excellence, nurturing the minds of young learners and fostering a love for lifelong learning. Over the years, it has evolved into a hub of creativity, innovation, and community engagement, touching the lives of countless families.

The 53rd birthday celebration at PopStroke was a joyous occasion filled with laughter and games. Board members and supporters gathered to commemorate the Center’s enduring legacy and to pledge their support for its future endeavors.

“We are immensely proud to have reached this incredible milestone of 53 years serving our community,” said Ellyn Okrent, CEO of Fuller Center. “Our journey has been one of unwavering dedication to providing exceptional education and family support. Today, as we celebrate, we also look ahead with great excitement to the next chapter of our story – the creation of a new playground for our Academy that will inspire and delight our children for years to come.”

The event at PopStroke featured an array of activities for attendees of all ages, including mini-golf, arcade games, delicious food, and entertainment. Guests had the opportunity to connect, reminisce about cherished moments, and share their vision for the future of Fuller Center.

In addition to celebrating, the event served as a platform to kickstart fundraising efforts for their ambitious playground project. With a goal of $200,000, the Center aims to create a dynamic outdoor space that promotes physical activity, exploration, and imaginative play – essential elements for childhood development.

As Fuller Center looks towards the future with optimism and determination, the spirit of community, innovation, and excellence that has defined its legacy for over five decades will continue to guide its path forward.

About the Fuller Center
For more than 50 years, the Fuller Center’s mission has been to embrace, educate, and empower hardworking, under-resourced families and children to reach their full potential. We build a positive future through education for the more than 900 children (infants through teens) whom we serve annually, as well as 600 of their family members. The Fuller Center reaches families in more than 40 zip codes throughout Palm Beach County, as well as northern Broward County.

65% of Fuller Center parents serve as essential or frontline workers, working in hospitals, retail outlets, restaurants, and hotels. They are our bus drivers, store clerks and cashiers, farmworkers, delivery drivers, security guards, bank tellers, office workers, healthcare workers, home health aides, hospital orderlies and cafeteria workers, and childcare and eldercare workers.

Our programs help empower children to start school prepared, succeed academically, and break the generational cycle of poverty through quality early childhood education, after-school and summer camp programs, our new private elementary school and teen leadership programs, and comprehensive, family-centered support services. They also empower parents who are essential to keeping our local economy open and who provide the vital services we all count on.

The Fuller Center also offers mentoring programs and adult on-the-job training, coaching, and employment support, and no-cost transportation from 12 area schools to our campus-based after-school programs. We serve more than 1,800 nutritious meals and snacks daily.

In addition, Fuller Center provides opportunities for local colleges and universities to place undergraduate and graduate students in internships and child development practicums.
